Food for Thought about a – necessary – Greek Bailout …

Critics calling creditors’ terms harsher than the Versailles Treaty of 1919 that crushed Weimar Germany with debt and paved the way for the second world war.

Paul Krugman, the Nobel-prize
winning economist and prominent critic of austerity in Greece, said the
creditors’ demands on Greece “went beyond harsh into pure vindictiveness,
[leading to the] complete destruction of national sovereignty [with] no hope of
relief”. “It’s a grotesque betrayal of everything the European project was

“overpopulation” is what racist liberals blame the ecological crisis on. you know…not capitalism stripping the earth of resources or anything. Your average millionaire probably consumes about as much resources as 1,000 working class people.

yes this is such a brilliant point and building off of it, how about that narrative that shames ~third world countries~ for their population growth rates as the major factor in the depletion of natural resources and as the harbinger of future ecological doom meanwhile you’ve got countries like the uk (with 60 million people) using more natural resources and goods than countries like china (with over a billion people) or entire continents like africa/south america, and then you’ve got the united states using as many or more fossil fuels as china and india (even though both have four times as many people). like western academics are so quick to point fingers at the ‘developing world’ while ignoring the very crucial fact that the capitalist imperialist/neoimperialist societies of the west are using natural resources at unprecedented rates/many times more than the rest of the world combined and that if the rest of the world had their per capita usage it would take something like 4 more earths to sustain this kind of living
